Critical patches issued for Cisco routing systems

Cisco has issued three critical patches for its routing and switching systems to address vulnerabilities that allow remote attackers to crash networks.

Two of the patches are designed to protect the majority of Cisco hardware running the IP v4 protocol and the other is designed to protect hardware using the newer and less widely used IP v6 protocol.

Cisco says it hasn’t seen the flaw actively exploited by attackers yet, but there are concerns that large networks and portions of the internet could be affected by attacks if firms and ISPs don’t rapidly patch their systems with the fixes.
