Argos has completed implementation of a warehouse management system at the second of three large distribution centres at the heart of its supply chain. The retailer now aims to complete the phased roll-out to the last depot, at Acton Gate in Staffordshire, by May.
Argos, part of the Home Retail group, has just gone live with the warehouse management application from software supplier Manhattan Associates at its 650,000 square foot Marsh Leys distribution centre in Buckinghamshire, which covers southern England.
The system is already installed at its Faverdale distribution centre near Darlington, which covers northern England and Scotland.
Home Retail Group’s IS director Pete Connor said, “We decided to avoid a big-bang approach. Instead, we meticulously planned and sequentially executed a progressive handover to the new system.
“This deployment methodology, along with a clearly defined approach to data migration, enabled us to transition to the new application smoothly.”
