An insurance company has solved the problem of sending
large files between its London, Bermuda, Paris and US offices by
deploying an appliance server that gives the offices fast remote
access to files held centrally in London.
Aspen Insurance
UK and sister firm Aspen Insurance have implemented
Packeteer's
iShared acceleration technology to share data more efficiently
between its global offices.
Packeteer's iShared wide area file and branch office appliances
allow users to open, save and manage files remotely across the Wan
at near-Lan speeds.
Aspen said that its 400 employees would benefit from faster
remote file access, particularly the Bermuda-based underwriting
team, which has a close working relationship with London.
The company also set up file access at its new Paris offices but
did not need to install dedicated servers at the location as data
was transferred directly across the network.
“In an industry where quick response time is everything, these
solutions allow us to react quickly to requests and beat our
competitors to the business,” said James Harrison, technical office
design manager.
“So successful was the implementation in Paris, London and
Bermuda that we are now looking to roll this out in our US remote
offices in Georgia and Arizona,” he added. “We believe that the
cost savings and efficiency achieved in Europe can be easily
replicated in the US.”
