Red Hat to hire 210 developers in Czech Republic

Red Hat has opened the firm’s second-biggest software development centre in the Czech Republic.

The new development site in Brno will eventually employ 210, and is only smaller than the company’s main Boston development centre.

Red Hat, one of the biggest distributors of Linux-based open source software, chose the Czech Republic after receiving cash from inward investment organisation CzechInvest.

Paul Cormier, executive vice-president of engineering at Red Hat, “We have chosen Brno because of the rich talent base. We are excited about the great potential for innovation and collaboration as this team integrates with our global engineering organisation.”

The centre will be located on leased premises near Masaryk University’s Faculty of Informatics.

Red Hat anticipates extensive cooperation with universities, especially with Masaryk. Red Hat said such cooperation will happen on many levels, from submission of dissertation work, through student internships in the company, to the possible creation of new departments at the faculty.
