Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe has awarded a £1.6m contract to Orange Business Services to design and implement a local area network.

The deal follows the bank’s move to its new London headquarters in the City and will provide services for 700 employees.

Orange said the Cisco-based deployment would give the bank long-term cost efficiencies, with the future-proofed communications platform providing an enhanced level of service for employees.

“As a leading financial services group, expanding our customer base and providing more customer-focused products and services are key objectives for us,” said Gary Biggerstaff of Sumitomo Mitsui.

“The Lan provided by Orange Business Services will help us achieve these objectives, as a secure, cost-effective network will allow our staff to stay connected at all times.”
