Patricia Dunn, HP’s former chairman, has pleaded not
guilty to charges stemming from her role in HP’s spying operation
on directors, employees and journalists.
Dunn was tasked with the role of stopping media leaks from the
boardroom, an operation which led to outside investigators being
used. These investigators are then said to have accessed the phone
records of individuals without their permission.
At Santa Clara County Superior Court yesterday, Dunn pleaded not
guilty to four charges, including identity theft and conspiracy.
Four others are facing the same charges as Dunn, with the charges
carrying a prison sentence of up to 12 years.
Dunn, 53, was released pending the trial. She and the others
charged are due to appear in court again tomorrow, to attend a
status report on the case. The case threatens to cast a continuing
shadow over HP, which is scheduled to release it full-year
financial results later today.
