Five of six Microsoft security patches are 'critical'

Microsoft yesterday released six security patches, with five of them described as “critical” by the company.

The five critical updates include a cumulative security update for the Internet Explorer browser, and a fix for the Microsoft Agent technology in Windows.

In addition, there are updates for the Windows version of Macromedia Flash Player from Adobe, a fix for the Workstation Service technology in Windows, and a solution for the widely reported problem in Microsoft XML Core Services.

All these vulnerabilities could allow remote attackers to take over users’ machines with no user interaction required to open up their systems to attacks.

The sixth patch, described as “important” by Microsoft, is a fix to plug a hole in Windows’ Client Service for NetWare software.
