The Cabinet Office does not yet have a publication date
for the annual report on the Transformational Government strategy
promised for this month.
The strategy is aimed at improving public service delivery
through technology, creating services that are built around users’
needs and increasing efficiency.
A Cabinet Office spokesperson confirmed that there was no
publication date set for the annual report, although the government
was “hoping to publish it soon”. The government had been “aiming
for November or the end of the year” and was still expecting to
publish by then.
Transformational Government covers the entire public sector and
includes plans for greater data sharing between government
departments and a huge increase in shared services for core
functions.
The strategy was published last year, with an implementation
plan published in April. But this was a sketchy overarching
document, with much of the detail – including implementation plans
for the nine major government areas, a common infrastructure
roadmap and a procurement strategy – to be provided by November
2006.
Alongside the implementation plan, the government pledged that
an annual report on the strategy, “covering the year's achievements
in key delivery areas”, would be published this month.
