The Stationery Office (TSO) and the IT Service
Management Forum International (ITSMFI) have reached agreement on a
deal to provide supporting material for new best practice
guidance.
The IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service management
standards framework is due to be updated early next year.
The partnership agreement to be signed this week is aimed at
firming up relations between the not-for-profit organisation
ITSMFI, which plays a key role in developing and promoting ITIL,
and TSO, which is the Office of Government Commerce’s official
publisher for ITIL material.
The deal will also see ITSMFI provide translation services through
its chapters in 37 countries for the official Core and
Complementary ITIL portfolio produced by TSO.
Research released in August by IT service management specialist
Axios Systems found that many corporate IT departments were failing
to follow ITIL-based standards.
A survey of 147 IT directors and managers found that just 25%
used an ITIL-based Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to
provide an accurate inventory of IT resources and the relationships
between them.
