NTL Telewest is to rebrand itself as Virgin Media from
the first quarter of next year.
The rebranding follows NTL Telewest’s acquisition of Virgin
Mobile earlier this year. Virgin Media aims to exploit NTL
Telewest’s “quadplay” offering of digital TV, broadband, mobile and
home phone services, which currently costs £40 a month.
Gordon McCallum, chief executive officer of Virgin Management
and NTL board member, said, "Taking on the Virgin brand is about
much more than a new name and logo above the door.
"NTL Telewest's management team has consistently demonstrated
that it understands this and the commitment that is needed to
succeed. Much has already been achieved and we are confident that
the company is on track to deliver the Virgin promise of value for
money and good customer service when we rebrand next year."
A number of NTL Telewest customers have complained of shoddy
customer service in recent months, and Virgin brand owner Sir
Richard Branson is keen to protect his main asset.
