A joint anti-spam initiative –
StopSpamAlliance.org
– has been launched by governments and industry bodies.
The initiative has come out of the World Summit on the
Information Society conference held last November.
At the conference, governments and other attendees were asked to
deal effectively with the significant and growing problem posed by
spam, and they were called upon to adopt a multi-pronged approach
by gathering information and resources to help combat spam.
The StopSpamAlliance.org initiative is supported by the European
Union's Contact Network of Spam Authorities, the International
Telecommunication Union, the London Action Plan, and the
Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, among
others.
The StopSpamAlliance.org pages link to initiatives in the field
of anti-spam legislation and enforcement activities, consumer and
business education, best practices, and international
cooperation.
The site also features international events on combating
spam.
