Allied Irish Bank (AIB) has implemented Novell’s
identity management to provide consistent identity data across
connected systems and support setting up new users and access to
applications.
The bank said the software had improved security and enabled
faster deployment of applications. To improve operational
efficiency, the bank began a project in 2003 to remove servers from
branches and progress towards centralised identity management and
role based access controls.
The identity management project is now being rolled out to 6,000
users and desktops in more than 300 branch locations across
Republic of Ireland, Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The
project is expected to complete in 2007.
Along with Novell, AIB IT infrastructure is based on Sun Java
Desktop and browser applications running in the branches together
with Oracle and SAP.
