Bridgehead has announced the integration of its HT
Integrated Storage Management platform with EMC’s Centera
content-addressed storage system.
Combining the features of HT ISM with EMC Centera will provide
users with the capability to identify data on their network that
needs to be stored and automatically transfer it to Centera as part
of a policy-driven archiving strategy.
HT ISM is a storage management platform that allows IT
departments to integrate storage management functions, such as
archiving, backup and replication into a single administrative
process.
EMC Centera is a software-driven, Worm disc storage platform
using content-addressed storage, which means the data, once
written, is never duplicated – a useful attribute in maintaining
the integrity of data to meet compliance regulations. It is
described by far more metadata than is usual in existing file
systems.
The HT FileStore component of HT ISM automates the controlled
movement of data in and out of the EMC Centera storage array and
lets users perform continuous analysis and data classification
across their network environment. Once copied into the
Centera-based archive, HT FileStore lets users view, search and
access archived data.
Mark Avery, EMC senior director for Centera markets and alliances,
said, "The integration between EMC Centera and BridgeHead's HT
Integrated Storage Management Platform benefits joint customers who
are deploying long term, archiving for compliance and disaster
recovery by unlocking the value in digital content while lowering
costs and making it easier to integrate
into a multimedia, multicopy repository system."
