The UK’s large businesses are far less satisfied with
advanced data services than with fixed line or mobile phone
services, research from Ofcom has revealed.
In research carried out through the communications watchdog’s
large business panel, more than half of 147 key telecoms decision
makers said they had switched suppliers over the past three years
year.
The study found that 73% of large companies were satisfied with
fixed line services overall, with the same proportion reporting
that they were satisfied with their mobile services.
But just 44% of those surveyed said that they were satisfied
overall with their data services.
Satisfaction levels for data services were lower on a series of
measures, the research found, with 60% of companies satisfied with
customer care from their fixed line service provider and 68% happy
with that from their mobile provider - compared with just 43%
satisfied with customer care from data services providers.
Value for money was also seen as far less satisfactory with data
services, with only 38% expressing satisfaction compared with 64%
for fixed line and 61% for mobile services.
The Ofcom survey also found that 62% of companies were satisfied
with the range of relevant or appropriate services and suppliers
for fixed line services, while 71% were happy with this for mobile
services. Data service suppliers fell behind again with just 41% of
those surveyed saying they were satisfied with the range of
services on offer.
