The BBC has selected Xansa as its preferred supplier for
a 10-year business process outsourcing (BPO) contract worth
£85m.
The contract is expected to save the BBC more than £200m over
the next 10 years. The deal will be the BBC’s first for offshore
outsourcing, with transaction processing to be carried out in
Chennai, India, while voice contact services will be provided from
UK locations.
BBC group finance director Zarin Patel said, “I am confident
that Xansa will help us to further transform our finance and
business processes. By moving our transaction processing to India
we are demonstrating that we are prepared to take bold and
imaginative decisions.”
The deal is to be signed in November, with Xansa taking over
responsibility from July next year. It will cover finance and
accounting services, including purchasing and sales transaction
processing, artist and contributor payments, financial management
and project accounting, and payroll and expenses processing.
Xansa secured the contract after bidding against current
provider EDS, Capita and Infosys BPO. The contract will also see
Xansa working with the BBC’s IT service provider, Siemens Business
Services, to provide infrastructure, applications support and
customer service facilities.
