Oracle plans to deliver advanced application management,
monitoring, and service level capabilities over the coming months
as part of its Enterprise Manager 10g product.
It will offer three Oracle Application Management Packs for
Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft Enterprise and Siebel. Oracle
also plans to make available additional packaged applications. The
packs include service management, application management and
configuration management components.
Oracle said the service level management functionality will help
users ensure proper service levels for their Oracle applications by
capturing and monitoring the performance of critical business
transactions and understanding user experience by simulating
end-user behaviour.
The application performance management tool will help
administrators monitor the application environment, measure
end-users' experiences and identify the root cause of problems.
The configuration management tools will enable administrators to
discover and manage application assets and help ensure that their
configurations are in compliance with enterprise standards and best
practices, Oracle said. Administrators will be able to track system
changes, validate changes, and take snapshots of their environments
to prevent configuration-related problems and application
outages.
The Oracle Application Management Pack for PeopleSoft Enterprise
is planned for release before the end of the year.
