Four leading IT firms are seeking to tempt skilled UK
professionals to go and work in New Zealand.
EDS, Telecom New Zealand, Synergy and IBM are setting out their
stalls at the New Zealand Expos in London and Manchester this
week, as part of the recruitment drive for skilled migrants.
The four firms are looking to fill posts covering 300 roles,
including solutions architects, developers, engineers, project
directors and programme managers, with some roles in specialist IT
areas.
The move, backed by the New Zealand labour ministry, is an
attempt to tackle the shortage of skilled IT professionals in the
country. The ministry’s New Zealand Now website says the country’s
IT industry offers “broad roles which give people a chance to stand
out and make real progress in their careers”.
The expos offer a chance to find out about career opportunities
in different regions of New Zealand, with immigration staff on hand
to provide advice on how people can move to the country.
