IBM has completed its acquisition of FileNet, a buy that
will help it improve its Information on Demand
initiative.
FileNet is a leading provider of business process and content
management systems, and its operations will be integrated into
IBM's Information Management software business.
IBM has now completed 20 strategic acquisitions in support of
Information on Demand.
FileNet should enhance IBM's ability to meet increasing client
demand for a combination of content- and process-centred business
process management capabilities, driven by changing governance and
compliance requirements.
The need to integrate content-centric business processes with
enterprise applications is another driving force, said IBM.
IBM is integrating its business process management and service
oriented architecture (SOA) technologies with the FileNet platform,
to allow customers to access content wherever it may reside and use
it in the context of business processes.
This will enable clients to achieve effective compliance,
archiving and document retention, IBM said.
