TNT is using datacentre asset tracking software to determine the impact of new hardware installations.

The delivery firm is using Aperture Vista for proactive planning of the cooling and power requirements of new datacentre kit. The software is deployed by BA, Barclays, ING and Pfizer to reduce operational risk and improve efficiency of datacentre management.

David Carey, computer room facility manager at TNT, said, "We are constantly upgrading servers, which means power and cooling requirements are constantly going up."

Aperture Vista has given TNT better control and management of room and rack space, power and cooling, he added.

The 900 servers at TNT's main datacentre make power and cooling major issues. Aperture Vista uses a CAD diagram of the computer room to help assess how much power and cooling is required per server rack.
