Nuance Communications is now shipping ScanSoft PDF
Converter Professional 4, as the firm increases its challenge to
Adobe in the PDF management space.
ScanSoft is an alternative to Adobe’s established Acrobat
system, used to manage and manipulate PDFs (portable document
files).
Nuance promotes ScanSoft as a cheaper solution than Acrobat, and
version four of the product comes with a range of new features.
The latest package comes with a completely new user interface,
designed to improve ease-of-use, said Nuance.
The new software also promises faster PDF conversion rates and
greater compatibility with other software, including the
forthcoming Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Windows Vista
packages.
ScanSoft PDF Converter Professional 4 can also publish content
to internet podcasts by converting PDF documents to human sounding
audio files using the RealSpeak platform.
Lockheed Martin Space Systems, the US National Institute of
Health, Volkswagen and Wells Fargo already use the Nuance
solution.
ScanSoft PDF Converter Professional 4 costs £69.99.
