Trend Micro has unveiled the 2007 version of its
internet security suite, which is priced competitively against
Microsoft’s recently launched OneCare security suite.
Microsoft launched OneCare as a subscription service to take on
the established security players like McAfee, Symantec and Trend
Micro.
The 2007 Internet Security from Trend will incorporate the
company’s established PC-cillin engine and anti-malware protection,
along with new features addressing the latest threats, including
rootkits, spyware, phishing, spam, hackers, viruses, Wi-Fi attacks,
smartphone threats and the growing problem of identity-theft.
In addition, the Trend Micro Internet Security subscription will
include TrendSecure, Trend Micro’s new online security services.
TrendSecure will bring added security for consumers who not only
connect at home, but often while they are travelling.
“We are excited to offer this hybrid software and web-based
service release because increasingly mobile consumers and
computer-connected families want to e-mail, shop, share pictures,
bank, browse, and use instant messaging with confidence, safe from
malicious attacks and time-consuming interruptions,” said Lane
Bess, global general manager for consumer products and services at
Trend Micro.
The new suite includes home network protection for up to three
PCs, which is an advantage over rival offerings which only license
on a per machine basis.
Trend Micro Internet Security comes with a household license for
one year at £49.95.
This licence comes with free e-mail and online support. Once the
subscription expires, a 12-month subscription renewal costs £49.95.
The package is available from next month.
