The Ministry of Defence and the US Army Research
Laboratory have selected an IBM-led consortium, the International
Technology Alliance, for a 10-year research programme exploring
advanced technology for secure wireless and sensor
networks.
The alliance consists of 24 universities and industry partners
in the US and the UK, including Honeywell, Boeing and Siemens. It
aims to provide the technology to quickly gather, interpret and
share battlefield information. A key challenge will be enabling
interoperability and communications across disparate military
units.
