The government’s procurement arm has received an
additional £1m discount on the cost of software for the public
sector from Microsoft.
OGCbuying.solutions, the trading arm of the Office of Government
Commerce, said the number of Microsoft licences issued across the
public sector has exceeded 1.5 million. Under a memorandum of
understanding with the firm, this has triggered an extra £1m
discount.
The deal provides discounts on desktop software under Enterprise
and Select Agreement licences, including discounts on support.
Hugh Barrett, chief executive of OGCbuying.solutions, said, “The
new discount available on enterprise agreements can now be enjoyed
by all public sector bodies and the savings can be reinvested into
front-line public services.”
OGCbuying.solutions has similar memoranda of understanding with
Sun, Oracle and IBM.
