Harrow council has rolled out two SAP-based IT systems
to help improve accessibility to information and streamline
services.
The council has used IT outsourcer Capita to help develop and
implement the systems, as part of an existing ten-year deal to help
transform the council’s services.
Paul Najsarek, director of people, policy and performance at
Harrow council, said, “The new systems, developed on time and
within budget through our partnership with Capita, will enable a
more efficient service for our 211,000 residents and an extremely
cost effective solution for the council.”
He said, “By having greater accessibility to information, the
new technology and processes will enable council employees to
concentrate on providing a first rate service for residents, rather
than undertaking repetitive administrative and clerical tasks.”
The new enterprise resource planning system will join together
the council’s back office support functions, such as HR, finance,
procurement and property services, into a single system.
This will allow customer details to be shared across other
services and departments to avoid unnecessary duplication and to
deliver better customer service.
In addition, a new management information system will support
managers in the provision of easy to use, reliable and up-to-date
reports on many aspects of council services and employees.
Harrow says this system will contribute towards creating better
value for money services, giving managers a single view of the
customer and information on performance of local strategic
partners.
