IBM has developed entry-level versions of its high-end
enterprise search and content integration platforms to help capture
the SME market.
The move means IBM will be directly competing against the SME
search solutions already supplied by Google, for instance.
IBM has released entry-level versions of its WebSphere
Information Integrator OmniFind and WebSphere Information
Integrator Content solutions.
The Starter Editions of both products will now compete against
Google’s Search Appliance family, already established in the SME
market.
The Starter Editions will cost from £17,000 each, which is
around half the price of the higher-end versions. The cheaper price
is for a solution that is limited to two CPUs, but the software is
essentially the same.
The content integrator is also capped at integrating two content
management systems. Both systems are expandable.
The software comes with a library of connectors to allow firms
to access different data systems, including databases, e-mail
servers and other data silos.
