Six out of 10 managers in HP’s sixth annual Pressure Point Index survey believe there is a “serious shortage” of relevant IT skills.

Many feel that the answer to the skills gap is to keep on outsourcing, specified by three-quarters of the managers.

“The fact that over 60% of UK managers believe that there is a serious shortage of IT skills further strengthens the case for UK businesses to work with trusted partners to bridge the skills gap,” says Campbell Robertson, managed services director at HP UK and Ireland.

“This will not only serve their business by relinquishing certain responsibilities to more capable partners, but also help to relieve managers of stress by enabling them to focus more energy on their main job requirements.”

Nearly half the 200 managers questioned also say they have crippling workloads and poor work-life balance and many are also worried about job security.
