Digital imaging giant says Multifunctional printer is
perfect for small business needs
Digital imaging and technology giant Canon UK has made its entry
into the A3 laser cartridge-based market with the launch of the
MF7170i.
Aimed predominantly at small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs),
the MF7170i has been introduced in direct response to what Canon
says are demands for cost-effective, efficient devices for small
workgroups. Canon believes that the addition of laser
cartridge-based technology to its A3 portfolio highlights its
commitment to the market and broadens its range of available
business printers and solutions.
According to research firm IDC, in 2005 87% of all documents
printed are five pages or less. As such, Canon sees the MF7170i,
sister product to the toner based iR2016i, as being compact enough
to sit within small workgroups and ideally suited to facilitating
small, day-to-day print jobs while increasing productivity by
freeing up larger machines to complete more complex or bigger
jobs.
Glen Mason, office marketing manager, Canon UK comments,
“Following the results of research conducted by IDC, it is apparent
that the need for printer/ copiers designed solely for small print
jobs is ever increasing.”
The MF7170i is a Multifunctional printer/ copier that can print
documents up to A3 size at a speed of 16 ppm. The device is sold as
a ‘plug-and-play’ ready unit with 12 months on-site warranty as
standard. Its colour scanning facility, i-SEND, allows scan and
send functionality in colour, thus improving the quality of scanned
documents and saving the additional cost of a colour network
scanner. Furthermore, the send function allows scanned documents to
be sent directly across a company’s network, to an email address,
FTP site or database.
