Oracle has announced a move into content management with
the launch of two products aimed at helping businesses manage large
volumes of unstructured data.
Oracle Content Database and Oracle Records Database are designed
to allow businesses to manage both structured data and unstructured
content – such as documents, spreadsheets, PDF files, images and
graphics - across the organisation to boost productivity and meet
the need for rapid access to information.
The two products are built on Oracle’s Database 10g using open
standards so businesses can integrate them into existing
infrastructures and manage content.
Enterprise content management software firm Open Text has
announced that it will offer products based on the new Oracle
Content Database infrastructure. Open Text also intends to offer
its content-enabled industry applications, such as accounts payable
and loan origination on Oracle Content Database.
Open Text extend Oracle's products using imaging, records
management, archiving and search technologies.
Oracle Content Database and Oracle Records Database are set to
be released as options for Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition
within the next two months.
