Microsoft introduced the second beta version of Vista,
the next version of the Windows desktop operating system, at its
WinHec hardware conference in Seattle last week.
Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.0 was also released at the
conference. The toolkit is designed to help minimise compatibility
issues when rolling out a new Windows operating system.
The beta 2 of Windows Server Longhorn was also made available to
more than 500,000 people.
Speaking at the conference, Bob Muglia, senior vice-president
server and tools business at Microsoft, said, “To help customers
streamline the management of their virtual environments, we are
developing a product called Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine
Manager.”
He said Microsoft plans to release a public beta of Virtual
Machine Manager in the next 90 days.
