London City Airport is to outsource its IT and
communications management to air transport application provider
SITA in a seven-year deal.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed as London City
Airport is involved in acquisition talks.
London City Airport managing director Richard Gooding said:
“This IT outsourcing deal will be a key enabler for London City
Airport to deliver on our master plan for growth which forecasts
eight million passengers per annum and increased employment from
1,500 to over 4,000 by 2030. SITA is an ideal partner to ensure the
right IT environment to help make that happen.”
The contract marks the second major outsourcing deal for SITA,
following a 10-year $200m contract signed with Düsseldorf Airport,
Germany, last year.
London City Airport, which serves mainly business customers, is
seeing passenger numbers grow by 14% a year and is expected to
benefit from its location close to the site of the 2012 London
Olympics.
