Microsoft has agreed to pay $70m (£41m) in product
vouchers to settle an anti-trust case brought against it by
Californian local authorities.
The class action was brought by authorities who claimed that
Microsoft had used its market dominance to overcharge them for
products.
The lawsuit was filed in August 2004 by the cities of San
Francisco and Los Angeles, and four California counties.
The agreement still has to be approved by a court.
Microsoft said it had agreed to settle so it could focus on the
future. It still claims it sold its software at fair prices and
denies overcharging the local authorities.
The $70m will be shared between the local authorities, who will
be able to use the vouchers to buy future products.
