Hewlett-Packard and open source database firm MySQL have
announced a tie-up that will see HP offering consultancy and
support services for MySQL software.
The move is aimed at boosting HP’s open source and Linux
capability and extending its IT services.
Under an agreement between the two firms, HP will provide
consulting, integration and support services for customers
implementing MySQL Network database software. MySQL will train HP
Services professionals on its products.
HP and its partners will also resell MySQL Network subscription
services, which include access to certified MySQL software, updates
and upgrades, alerts, software advisers, an online knowledgebase
and full production-level technical support.
HP will incorporate MySQL into its new open source middleware
stacks, which offer users different ways to deploy open source
middleware on HP platforms.
