IBM has expanded its service orientated architecture
(SOA) product set with 11 new offerings and 20 product
enhancements.
SOAs are designed to allow companies to quickly develop flexible
web-based applications in response to business needs.
The new solutions are designed to ease SOA adoption and deliver
improved management and development.
New solutions include WebSphere Portal 6.0 integrated with IBM
Workplace and other collaborative technologies, to make it easier
for users to build composite applications that can be tailored to
industry, role or task.
The latest version also supports the Asynchronous JavaScript and
XML (AJAX) development platform, for building interactive web
applications, and includes new support to simplify the integration
of business processes.
IBM’s WebSphere Business Monitor 6.0 now includes business
alerts, reports that combine real-time performance and historical
analysis and scorecards to track the status and metrics of
projects.
The new version of IBM’s application server, WebSphere
Application Server 6.1, now has features designed to reduce the
complexity of an SOA as it is expanded to include applications such
as voice, video and instant messaging communications.
It also has new security features, including default security
configurations and a default user registry for identity
management.
In addition, IBM has upgraded its Enterprise Service Bus,
WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Information Server SOA
products.
Most of the new products and enhancements are available now,
although some will ship later this year.
