Virtualisation consultancy specialist VirtualizeIT has
opened an independent virtualisation academy (vacademy). It
includes technology from all of the leading server, storage and
application virtualisation suppliers and gives customers free
access to consultation and advice on what virtualisation
technologies can do for them, and which technologies are most
suitable for them.
VirtualizeIT is confident that the vacademy will offer a
step-by-step introduction to virtualisation for new adopters and
the most comprehensive testing environment available for companies
already familiar with it.
New adopters will be taken through a free assessment that
examines how virtualisation can help them and what first steps they
need to take. They can then participate in a group of tailored
education sessions that cover topics such as the business
implications and benefits, total cost of ownership of
virtualisation and an evaluation of suitable products.
The process concludes with the creation of a virtual
infrastructure feasibility assessment, providing a fully tailored
assessment of the benefits that virtualisation would deliver.
"With the market becoming increasingly saturated by so many
disparate virtualisation technologies, it is vital that
organisations develop a cohesive strategy before they begin
virtualising. Because virtualisation represents such a fundamental
change in IT thinking, it is not something that should be
undertaken without the right evaluation and consideration," says
Julian Box, managing director at VirtualizeIT.
"By offering total impartiality, vacademy will help customers
make the right choice to address their critical virtualisation,
disaster recovery, high availability and Lan/Wan tuning
requirements."
vacademy will also offer a free service to allow companies
already using virtualisation technologies to use the centre to
conduct benchmarking and performance tests.
