IBM is offering resellers up to £11,500 for converting
Microsoft Exchange e-mail customers to Lotus Domino and Notes
systems running on Linux.
The £11-per-licensed-seat bounty is an expansion of IBM’s
Move2Lotus programme.
The new programme, called “Migrate to the Penguin”, allows
resellers and consultants to get up to a total of £11,500 from the
per-seat bounty programme.
As part of the effort, IBM is also offering a service that will
allow customers to have their Domino servers hosted on a trial
basis, rather than have the Domino and Notes software installed on
company servers.
Microsoft and IBM are the market leading providers of e-mail and
desktop productivity suites, and Microsoft is not taking IBM’s
customer poaching attempts lying down.
Earlier this year, Microsoft released a set of software tools
designed to allow Domino and Notes users to more easily transfer
their data to an Exchange platform.
