Supply chain technology fails to deliver

Wednesday 29 March 2006 10:42
Just 7% of companies surveyed by PMP Research say they’ve achieved everything they’d hoped for from their supply chain initiatives. A further third are seeing some benefits.

The constant need for customisation, cited by 86% of respondents, and ever-decreasing product lifecycles (26%) have contributed to the delay in reaching corporate goals.

Difficulty changing internal processes and making incremental adjustments without wholesale re-planning are also snarling up progress, suggests the report.

Longer term, most companies are confident they will extract full benefits from their supply chain and are continuing to match or increase their investment in the technology.
