Microsoft has unveiled a new operational analytics application aimed at meeting the information and technical needs of SMEs.

Business Intelligence Optimisation (BIO) for Microsoft Dynamics SL, provides personalised business performance scorecards, allowing users to analyse business data through 60 different perspectives based on 14 common job roles. It also includes strategic, operational and financial analytics.

Users can view the analytical reports through Excel, Office SharePoint Services, Office Business Scorecard Manager and other parts of the Microsoft Office system or access them directly through the BIO for Microsoft Dynamics SL application.

The new product is built on Microsoft’s SQL Server Analysis Services and fully integrates with SQL Server 2000 and 2005.

BIO for Microsoft Dynamics SL is scheduled for general availability in June, with the BIO Foundation entry-level product priced at $3,600 (£2,050) in the US, including financial analytics and a two-user licence.

The addition to Microsoft’s range of products for SMEs comes as the software giant launches its “People-ready vision”, a major pitch for the wider business market, backed by a $500m marketing campaign.
