F-Secure has launched an email filtering gateway
offering both spam and virus protection and a single management
console for network administrators.
The F-Secure Messaging Security Gateway P-Series, intended for
use by universities, governments and large enterprises, features
the Linux operating system and uses anti-spam technology that
analyses the structural content and attributes of messages to
separate valid items from suspicious ones.
F-Secure said the P-series can be used in cluster configurations
to accommodate datacentres located in different places. Security
administrators are able to use a web-based interface to set email
policies, monitor the infrastructure and configure features for
end-users.
The new system has been designed to work alongside identity
management systems such as Microsoft's Active Directory, IBM's
Domino Directory or other LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access
Protocol) offerings.
There’s no doubt that we’re likely to see a rash of this sort of
offering, combining a range of protections. Once again, it has to
be simple to use.
