Yahoo has won a restraining order against a mobile
content start-up it accuses of stealing its trade
secrets.
MForma hired seven former Yahoo software engineers who had been
working on mobile content. Yahoo then sued the company and its
former employees after claiming that they were using Yahoo trade
secrets on MForma projects.
MForma has denied the charge, but a California state judge has
granted Yahoo a temporary restraining order which bars MForma
employees from using or disclosing any proprietary Yahoo
information in their work.
MForma said the seven former Yahoo employees would continue in
their existing jobs at the company as the lawsuit progressed
through the courts.
MForma supplies mobile content programs to a number of mobile
operators, including Vodafone and Orange.
Yahoo itself is facing a lawsuit for the alleged theft of trade
secrets after it hired a number of former interactive voice
software engineers from voice software specialist Nuance.
Yahoo has rejected Nuance’s claims.
