Yahoo is suing wireless content company MForma and a
group of its former employees now working at the company for
allegedly stealing its trade secrets.
A number of its former mobile software engineers moved to
MForma, and the Yahoo lawsuit claims they have used Yahoo
technology to help launch new MForma content services for mobile
operators.
MForma’s client list includes Vodafone and Orange, which use the
mobile content company to supply a variety of entertainment
services, including games and music applications.
The Yahoo legal action follows that of Nuance against Yahoo. The
voice recognition specialist is suing Yahoo for allegedly stealing
its trade secrets after a large team jumped ship to work for Yahoo
on its portal voice services.
Yahoo rejects Nuance’s claim that it has stolen its trade
secrets. Yahoo’s claim is heavily based on archived instant
messaging conversations its former employees conducted before
jumping ship.
The conversations included discussions on planned technology
innovations, which Yahoo claims are now being adopted by
MForma.
MForma rejects Yahoo’s claim that it has stolen its trade
secrets.
