Sun Microsystems has announced plans to acquire
patch-management software company Aduva.
Aduva's Onstage software is used to deploy updates and patches
on Solaris and Linux-based systems.
Don Grantham, executive vice-president of Sun Services, said,
“By acquiring Aduva, Sun will be addressing the number one pain
point we hear from IT administrators – patch management – while
addressing the principle cause of service downtime and system
vulnerability: out of date systems and patches.”
The small-scale deal, for an undisclosed amount, follows a
series of larger acquisitions by Sun last year.
A spate of activity has seen Sun buy out StorageTek for £2.26bn
and SeeBeyond Technology for £212m. It also snapped up
Tarantella.
