Google is partnering with professional services provider
BearingPoint to make it easier for firms to implement efficient
internal data search systems.
BearingPoint, formerly KPMG, will help businesses install,
integrate and customise the Google Search Appliance and Google
Desktop for Enterprise software in their organisations.
The Google search appliance allows employees to search for
documents in internal databases and other sources that may be
spread across different locations.
The Desktop for Enterprise software allows staff to search for
data on their desktops.
BearingPoint will offer companies customised search technology
designed for specific vertical industry sectors such as
pharmaceuticals and finance.
BearingPoint will also provide software plug-ins for the Google
hardware, and customised security integration and support.
Google’s rivals in the internal search market include Verity,
which is in the process of acquiring rival Autonomy.
