British Gas is supporting 6,500 field engineers with a
new mobile resource management solution from @Road.
British Gas is using the @Road Taskforce system to make sure the
most appropriate engineer is sent on each call.
The system synchronises call centre data and job dispatch
information with the movement of engineers in the field.
Andy Burling, British Gas Services head of planning and
development, said, "With this deployment we want to further
automate the way work is dispatched and improve the productivity of
our engineers in the field.”
The system was previously trialled in the company's electrical
and housing services divisions, with adoption in those business
areas completed in late 2005.
The system is now being rolled out to the company's 6,500 gas
field engineers.
