Internet users are being warned about a new Trojan horse
in the wild that is disguised as an e-mail message from internet
security company F-Secure.
The message comes with an attachment, and with various headers
such as: "Firefox Browsing Problem," "Mozilla Browsing Problem," or
"Website Browsing Problem."
The Trojan was first reported by F-Secure rival Sophos, which
said Helsinki-based F-Secure had “done nothing wrong” in relation
to the Trojan’s appearance.
Graham Cluley, Sophos senior technology consultant, said,
“F-Secure are the unfortunate victims of internet criminals using
their name as a disguise in an attempt to spread malware.”
If the attachment is opened on the rogue e-mail, the Trojan will
disable anti-virus and other security software, and open a backdoor
for remote hackers to gain access to infected systems.
