In a
further part of the recent spree of mergers and acquisitions,
Computer Associates has bought Control-F1 Corporation, a provider
of support automation solutions that automatically prevent, detect
and repair end-user computer problems before they disrupt critical
IT services.
CA says that the
acquisition will enable its customers to both significantly improve
the productivity of their IT helpdesks and maximise service levels
to end-users. It adds that the move supports CA's vision for
simplifying and unifying the management of IT, by making enterprise
computing environments more self-healing while reducing costs
associated with maintaining a healthy IT infrastructure.
According to
market researcher Gartner, mass-healing and self-healing
technologies represent the most important investment that both
technology providers and their customers can make in the name of IT
support.
Adds Jacob Lamm,
senior vice president and general manager of business service
optimisation at CA: “IT organisations have reached a critical point
as the complexity and volume of technology rises and support
resources remain limited. By augmenting our industry-leading
service management portfolio with Control-F1's automation
solutions, CA is helping organisations relieve a significant
portion of their daily workloads so they can focus on strategic
projects.”
Through an earlier
partnership, CA certified Control-F1's solutions as interoperable
with its Unicenter Service Desk.
