The 10 best corporate intranets have been named by
marketing company Nielsen Norman Group.
Nielsen arrived at its Intranet Design Annual 2006: The
Year’s 10 Best Intranets based on the best intranet design and the
functions offered, including user blogging features.
Nielsen listed the US’s Capital One, IBM, Merrill Lynch and
Staples among the best intranets.
It also praised Germany's Altana Pharma and Metro Group, and the
UK’s O2 and Vodafone.
Allianz Australia Insurance and Bank of Ireland were also listed
among the best 10 intranets.
Nielsen pointed out that the best intranets support mobile
access, including optimising them for RIM’s Blackberry push e-mail
system, which can also be used to access corporate
applications.
