Microsoft is offering a price cut on its small business
accounting package to boost sales of the product.
Microsoft is offering a £60 discount and a year’s free unlimited
support to buyers of its Small Business Accounting 2006
software.
With the discount, the software has already been priced in the
channel for as little as £30.
The package was only introduced in autumn last year, but
Microsoft insists the pricing move is not a response to weak sales
against rival products such as Intuit’s QuickBooks and Peachtree’s
accounting tools.
Microsoft maintains that the price cut is designed to gradually
grow sales. Industry estimates say Microsoft’s offering currently
only has around 1% of the small business accountancy software
market.
The price cut is available until the end of April.
