Portsmouth University is set to engage in a major study
on the effectiveness of remote working in the UK.
The university is partnering on the project with Computer
Assets, which specialises in the field of remote team working,
providing consultancy and solutions to companies adopting remote
working.
The Portsmouth University study will examine how remote
networking can be implemented to create effective teams, and its
results will be promoted widely throughout the business sector.
Computer assets commercial director Andy Harris said: “The UK is
on the verge of a working revolution that could rival the
Industrial Revolution.
“Remote working is the future, and all the technical
requirements are now in place. All it takes is the skill and the
will to use those elements to make remote working a part of
everyone’s working life, with all the advantages that will
bring.”
A recent Computer Weekly/BT study of large businesses found that
wireless technology was now a key element in most companies’
productivity strategies.
BT, however, warned that companies must make sure that work/life
balances are maintained to make sure employees do not become burnt
out from easily being remotely connected to the business.
