OpenOffice.org has released an updated version of its
open-source Portable OpenOffice.org collaboration
suite.
The software fits on a USB stick and now offers full support for
Windows 2000, which is still used heavily in the enterprise
environment.
Portable OpenOffice.org 2.0.1 includes all the applications that
come in OpenOffice.org 2.0.1, but it takes up only 144Mb of storage
space. The non-portable version takes up 300Mb of disk space.
The portable software can be used as a laptop replacement when
travelling or as a back-up to applications already held on a
PC.
Portable OpenOffice.org 2.0.1 can be downloaded from the
OpenOffice.org website.
The OpenOffice.org project is heavily backed by Sun
Microsystems, which uses the suite's applications as a basis for
its more feature-rich Star Office collaboration suite.
