Internet security company Blue Coat has acquired
end-point security provider Premeo for $61m (£36m) to broaden its
product portfolio.
One of the reasons Blue Coat has moved for Premeo is the
increasing mobility of the workforce at enterprises, something that
Premeo’s security solutions address.
Premeo’s products make sure that remote and mobile devices
attempting to gain access to corporate networks have the right
permission and security settings to do so.
Blue Coat is paying around $13.5m (£8m) in cash and the rest in
Blue Coat stock to acquire Premeo.
Blue Coat’s expansion into the end-point security field follows
Symantec’s decision to buy end-point security firm Sygate last
summer.
